Danish international Daniel Agger established himself quickly in the Brondby first team after he was promoted from the youth squad to the first team as a replacement for Swedish international Andreas Jakobsson in July 2004. Agger played a key role as Brondby won the league title in the Danish top flight in his first season with the first team.

Daniel Agger was named the2004 ‘talent of the year' after some months in the first team.An injury picked up at the start of the 2005/06 campaign ruled him out for the rest of the season. Agger sustained the injury in September 2005 and he didn't play again for Brondby till that season ended in the summer of 2006. He was named the ‘talent of the year’ for all sports on December 6, 2005.

Daniel Agger had a good record in front of goal while he was with the Denmark national team for a period of eleven years. The ex-Liverpool and Brondby central defender scored 11 goals in 75 matches for Denmark before he retired in 2016.

Agger played his first game for the Denmark team in June 2005 during a friendly game with Finland in Tampere. He played the entire duration of the game in a 1-0 win. His first goal for the team arrived some months later against Malta in a World Cup qualifier ahead of the tournament in Germany. He was on target in the 6-1 win over Malta but the result eventually counted for nothing after Denmark failed to qualify for the World Cup tournament on German soil.

Daniel Agger is not a name that the Liverpool fans will forget in a hurry following his meritorious service to the Liverpool cause while the Danish international player was at the club. Daniel Agger made 232 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions during his stay at the club. In the Premier League alone, Daniel Agger made 175 appearances for the Reds. The centre back left Liverpool to return to his native Denmark due to family reasons in August 2014. He left the Reds to return back to Brondby in the top flight of club football in his country, Denmark. Daniel Agger didn't have the chance to make his mark at Liverpool in his opening weeks at the club due to several injuries. The injuries limited him to just four appearances for the first team.

Some Liverpool fans have still not recovered from the abrupt exit of Daniel Agger from the club many years ago. Daniel Agger left Liverpool after eight years to return to boyhood club Brondby seven years ago. Liverpool fans expressed their love and admiration for Daniel Agger last month, when he was celebrated by the official Twitter handle of Liverpool.

Former Liverpool defender has recently opened up on when he asked former manager Brendan Rodgers to be sold to Barcelona in 2014. The ex-defender said he was seriously pleading with Brendan Rodgers to allow him to leave Liverpool then in favor of a move to the Camp Nou in the 2014 summer transfer window after he was fed up with life at Anfield.

Liverpool signed Daniel Agger from Brondbyat the start of 2006 for a £6m fee and only few would have predicted that the ex-Danish international would endear himself to supporters on and off the pitch. The Reds made him the most expensive defender in their history with the transfer from Denmark. He had spent two years in the first team at Brondby.
