The former Liverpool legend Alan Hansen has said that the defensive pair of Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel are extremely important to the club. The two players have formed a great partnership in recent years, which has even forced the Liverpool managers to not use the veteran Jamie Carragher for important matches. Daniel Agger has been at the club for the last six seasons and Alan Hansen has said that he would have been an even better player had not been for the injuries. Agger has consistently suffered a number of injuries during his spell at Liverpool.

So far, he has managed to stay fit this campaign, which have translated into the better defensive performances of Liverpool. Their problems this season have come in the attacking sense where they have been unable to score goals when it matters and when they are on top. Daniel Agger is not only adept at defending, but he is also extremely good at starting the attacks according to Hansen. Due to his ball playing abilities, he can bring the ball out of the defence quite comfortably and start the attacks. This is an extremely important aspect of football that is often forgotten according to Hansen, who was regarded as one of the best players for Liverpool.

“He’s exceptionally comfortable in possession of the ball. He’s never embarrassed when the ball is at his feet – and traditionally Liverpool centre-backs have always been all of that. When you look at some of the centre-backs Liverpool have had with the ball at their feet ... in the 70s and 80s it was virtually every one, you could go through them and they were phenomenal with the ball at their feet. And Daniel’s up there with the best of them," said Hansen. Liverpool are currently in the 12th position.

The Danish defender Daniel Agger has said that he should not played in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea during the weekend because it has only aggravated the groin problem that he suffered prior to this match. The 27-year-old Daniel Agger is regarded as one of the best players at Liverpool. He was rested in the Europa league encounter in midweek, which give him the opportunity to play against Chelsea. He was extremely crucial in helping Liverpool get a point from the fixture, but he has now said that in hindsight he should not have played in the match.

Daniel Agger was suffering from a groin injury and had to take painkilling injections in order to play through the pain barrier. He has now withdrawn from the friendly match for the Denmark national team against Turkey so that he does not aggravate the injury even further. Martin Skrtel did not play for Liverpool in the match, as he was suffering from a virus.

As a result, Daniel Agger was partnered with Jamie Carragher in the back. The two players were extremely good against the single striker in the form of Fernando Torres. He is now hoping that he will be fit for the match against Wigan during the weekend.

"I should not have played on Sunday but Skrtel became ill and there was not much I could do. I was thrown into it. I have a pulled groin. It was something that should have kept me out on Sunday but it did not. I played the game. It takes hopefully only a few days (to recover). The reason why I have cancelled for Wednesday is that it is a bit early to play three days," said Agger. Liverpool are currently in the 13th position with only 12 points from the 11 matches played so far.

The Liverpool defender, Daniel Agger, has said that it’s not fair to blame only the strikers for the team’s decimal performance in the current Premier League season so far. Liverpool has played three Premier League matches in this season and the team has lost two of those matches. The third match against Manchester City ended in a draw. The team has scored only two goals in those three Premier League matches.

As per Agger, all the players are responsible for the recent poor performances of the team. He told Liverpool news "It’s not only about the strikers; it’s about the whole team. You can’t rely on just two or three players to score goal for you every time. The other players also need to step up. The poor form of the team is definitely a matter of concern. Almost all the key players of the team are out of form. The team had quite a few chances to score in the last game against Arsenal, but, the players didn’t manage to capitalize on the chances. Arsenal defeated Liverpool by 2-0 in that match.

Agger himself looked a bit rusty in the matches that he has played in the current season so far. The last season was very good for him and he was one of the very few consistent performers for Liverpool in the last season. He is a senior member of the team and the club was expecting him to deliver in this season as well. But, the Danish international didn’t look even close to his best so far. The manager of Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers has backed Agger and said that Agger would get back in top nick pretty soon. He has done well for the club in the past and he would do it again in the ongoing season.

Liverpool are facing a major fight to keep the defender Daniel Agger at the club after it has emerged that Spanish club Barcelona are looking to sign the 27-year-old as a replacement for Carlos Puyol. The club captain for the Spanish club – Carlos Puyol – is coming to the end of his illustrious career with the Catalan club.

Even though the club is mainly looks towards bringing youngsters from the youth academy, they are not prepared to take any risks with the central defensive positions and are looking towards signing an experienced player. The 27-year-old Spanish defender Daniel Agger has emerged as a real transfer target for the club due to his ability to play the ball from the back.

Barcelona have always been a club who have looked for ball playing abilities from the defenders. Daniel Agger is especially known for his skill with the ball, while he is also good for the occasional goals as well. Even though Argentine defender and former Liverpool midfielder Mascherano has been used in this position, it is thought that the new manager Tito Vilanova will be looking to bring in a player to used to playing in this position regularly rather than a makeshift player.

Liverpool could not only lose the services of Daniel Agger in the summer transfer window, but also the likes of Martin Skrtel and Andy Carroll as well. The Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel has been linked with a move away from the club after growing frustrated due to the lack of Champions League football at the club. Andy Carroll, meanwhile, is expected to be sold as part of the new revolution at the club by the former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers, who was recently appointed by the Liverpool's American owners as a replacement for sacked Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has said that England need not fear about the possibility of facing Germany in the semifinals of the Euro 2012. There is every chance that England could face Germany in the semifinals of the competition.

England will be facing Italy in the quarter-final stage, while Germany will be up against a Greece said who were certainly not expected to reach this stage of the competition. Even though the match against Italy will certainly be tough for the English, the Liverpool defender Daniel Agger expects Roy Hodgson's men to progress to the semifinals of the competition.
It has been a very tough tournament for the English, but they have come through a very difficult group as the winners.

Daniel Agger has said that one of the main strengths of Germany is their attacking talent. Due to the movement of the strikers, it is extremely difficult to play against them and not concede any goal. However, the defence is also not one of their strongest aspects of the game and Daniel Agger sees Germany conceding a number of goals if they come against a top quality opposition like England. Daniel Agger's Denmark lost 2-1 to Germany in the group match.

“Germany were the best team in our group when they had the ball, but we felt we had a chance against their defence. Their front three don’t stay in one position. They’re constantly changing sides and running into new positions. But I play against strikers of that quality, like Luis Suarez, every week in the Premier League and so do the England players,” said Daniel Agger after Denmark's exit from the competition in the group stages. Despite not having great expectations, Denmark managed to perform well in the group stages and finish above one of the favourites Netherlands.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has praised the performances of defenders Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique by saying that they are responsible for the success Liverpool have had this season, despite the fact that it might be limited.

Liverpool won the Carling cup this season, which was their first trophy after a gap of six years. However, they have been struggling a lot in the league this season. They currently are in the eighth position, which would translate into the worst league finish since 1954 for Liverpool. Due to the fact that legend Kenny Dalglish is at the helm, there has been no uprising at Anfield.

However, Martin Skrtel has said that Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique are responsible for the success that they had enjoyed this season. Jose Enrique joined the club in the summer from Newcastle United for around £ 6 million. He has been a regular starter for the club this season, as manager Kenny Dalglish has largely preferred him to the Brazilian full-back Aurelio. This is the seventh season at Anfield for defender Daniel Agger. He has made 28 appearances for the club this season, while Jose Enrique has featured in 40 matches for Liverpool. Jose Enrique and Daniel Agger have undoubtedly been the few bright spots for Liverpool this season.

“I don't think it's been our best season, especially in the league. He was unlucky to get injured, but when he has played I think he's been very good. I've played with him a lot and know how good he is,” Martin Skrtel said regarding defender Daniel Agger. Daniel Agger helped Liverpool lift the Carling Cup after performing excellently in the final against Cardiff City in February. Since then, he has been used sparingly by manager Kenny Dalglish after having suffered a rib injury from the match.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has said that Liverpool are determined to beat QPR during the weekend in order to banish the poor home record that they have been having this season. Even though Liverpool have been excellent away from home, they have really struggled against the bottom clubs at Anfield. Norwich and a few other clubs from the bottom end of the table have come to Anfield and secured valuable points. Daniel Agger says that the club needs to win against QPR without exception in order to make the visiting teams once again fear about Anfield.

Anfield in the past has been known for the exceptional atmosphere and the fear that it produces within the minds of the away teams. However, the way Liverpool play under Kenny Dalglish has allowed visiting teams to just sit back and enjoy the opportunity to counter-attack Liverpool. This is exactly the tactics of Liverpool employs when are from home, and Kenny Dalglish's men have been getting their taste of their own medicine in recent weeks. The match against QPR comes at an important stage in the season because of the fact that Tottenham seem to be pulling away from the rest of the pack chasing for the Champions League spot.

Further, Arsenal have been in spectacular form in recent weeks and this would mean that Liverpool would be left behind in the race if they continue with the poor form. "Everybody who plays football at this level doesn't like to lose, so everybody was really upset (about the defeat) and also about the way we lost - we had a lot of chances and I think we deserved better, but that's football. Luckily in football, there is always a game next week and a chance to bounce back - and that's something we have to do. We need the points," Daniel Agger said.
