Jurgen Klopp has a tough season lying ahead of him as the German manager has the task of qualifying Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League and also wants to push the English club past the 4th place finish in the Premier League.

During the previous English Premier League season of 2016-17, Liverpool finished in the 4th position with 76 points and Jurgen Klopp as well as the supporters of Liverpool are hoping that they will be able to secure a spot in the top 3 spots and maybe even win the domestic league especially after having offloaded around €85 million during the summer transfer window in securing the services of Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andrew Robertson.

At 31, Daniel Agger, the former Liverpool defender, eventually declared his retirement from football. The Denmark international played for good eight years at Liverpool having joined The Reds from 2006 till 2014 from Brondby IF, before leaving to Liverpool to same, where he announced his requirement.

The center back wrote on Twitter: “Thank you for your support. A great experience. It is sad, but it is the right decision to stop. I am proud of my career.”

Liverpool defeated opponents Sydney FC 3-0 in a friendly game played to celebrate the club’s 125-year anniversary.

Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher got action time as they played 46 minutes apiece.

Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno and Roberto Firmino scored each of the three goals against the Australian side. Sydney are the A-League title holders – a title they lifted earlier this month after seeing off stiff competition.

Daniel Agger shocked the football world after announcing retirement at the age of 31.

The former Liverpool defender only recently left the Premier league in order to joinBrondby, the club where he started his career. In his eight years at Liverpool,Agger became one of the top ball playing centre backs in the Premier League. The quality within the Danish international was clearly apparent and Barcelona were even trying to sign him for around £ 30 million just a year before he joinedBrondby. However, he has rather quickly announced his retirement after suffering numerous injuries over the last 18 months.

He said the team is the best he has played in. The Spain international joined Anfield in 2004. He spent five seasons, winning the UEFA Champions League and an FA Cup before exiting. He moved to Real Madrid for £30 million in 2009 before his transfer to the German side in 2014.
