Samuel Umtiti has disclosed to close associates that Liverpool are his preference should he choose to depart Camp Nou at the end of the season. The Frenchman has revealed to sources close to him that he might quit Barcelona at the end of the season.

Umtiti, 26, has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season. He has suffered with fitness issues this season. He has seen little playing times.
According to a report by Nicolò Schira (via Mundo Deportivo), Barcelona would be willing to let the former Olympique Lyon Defender leave for around €60m (£54.3m). That same report claims also revealed that Arsenal are also interested in the player.

The Gunners have made a move for the player in the past. The club made an approach for the player last summer, but no deal materialized. Arsenal will make another approach for the player during the summer window. The Gunners are on the lookout for defensive covers as several high-profile mistakes at the back have cost them precious points this season. Despite Arsenal's interest, the Daily Star report that Liverpool have been told by Umtiti's representatives that their client would favour a move to Anfield.

According to other reports, the Frenchman would prefer to remain in Catalonia rather than leave at all. The defender hopes to force talks about remaining with his current employers in the near future.
Liverpool are also on the lookout for reinforcement at the back. Joel Matip has suffered with fitness issues this season. While Dejan Lovren has failed to impress when given the opportunity. Leaving Gomez to partner Virgil Van Dijk for the most part of the season.

Umtiti has drawn comparison with former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger. The world cup winner has also developed a reputation of a no-nonsense defender.
