SAKHO SETTLING IN

Mamadou Sakho, who was brought into Liverpool for close to £ 20 million, has said that he is starting to get settled to life at Anfield. The former Paris St Germain defender is regarded as someone with a huge potential. The 23-year-old fell out with his former club and decided to move to Merseyside despite the fact that Liverpool were not capable of offering him Champions League football. Brendan Rodgers had guided Liverpool to seventh place last season and things were not looking good for the club.

However, they have made a stunning start to the campaign and are just a few points below the top of the table after Christmas. Sakho has been a first-team regular during this period and it is something that has surprised many. Sakho was expected to struggle during the initial years at the club especially due to the dominance of Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel as the centre back combination. The presence of Kolo Toure, who is someone experienced with Premier league football, has also made it difficult for Sakho to succeed at Anfield, but he has overcome such obstacles to establish himself.
Sakho says that he has signed a four-year contract with the club, which he intends to honour.

"At the moment I am very happy in Liverpool. I signed for four years and I will try to write my own piece of Liverpool history. I hope that in the coming years we will win many titles. Difficulties to adapt are normal - I have changed my team-mates, language, everything is a little trickier. But everything seemed logical and the move made sense. We have a group with four international central defenders so we take it in turns," said Sakho.

Sakho has also revealed that he does not regret having left PSG, who he supported as a boy.
