According to Spanish outlet Futbol Total, Frenkie de Jong is the subject of interest from Liverpool over a possible move in the ongoing transfer window. The Reds have lodged a bid worth £60 million, including add-ons, to sign the Dutch midfielder from Barcelona this summer. The speculation surrounding Frenkie de Jong’s long-term future shows no signs of going away yet.

The Barcelona midfielder might not be joining Manchester United anytime soon, but several clubs in the UEFA Champions League have started showing interest in him, the latest being Liverpool.
As for de Jong and his situation at Camp Nou, he seems to have a role wherein he will share game-time in the ongoing season with Gavi and Pedri instead of being an undisputed first-choice midfielder for Barcelona. Such a situation has captured the attention of several European bigwigs, including Bayern Munich and Chelsea, with Liverpool now trying to secure his services.

The interest from Liverpool comes in the wake of their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, where they lacked the required quality in midfield to trouble the Red Devils. With Thiago Alcantara nursing an injury, Jurgen Klopp does not have a midfielder who can progress the ball through the middle, thus explaining Liverpool’s interest in de Jong.
While recent reports have claimed that de Jong will only leave Barcelona to join Bayern Munich, Liverpool might be an attractive destination. The Reds have been one of the most consistent teams in Europe in the last few years, even though they might not have as many trophies to show for their effort.

But signing de Jong this late in the summer transfer window might not be straightforward for Liverpool, as Barcelona will struggle to bring in the desired replacement – Bernardo Silva. Nonetheless, the Merseyside giants have submitted a bid to sign the Barcelona midfielder, offering a total package worth £60 million. Liverpool legend Daniel Agger says the midfielder would suit Jurgen Klopp's style of play.
