Daniel Agger has claimed that he feels has playing the best football of his career despite being shown the door by Liverpool last year.

The Danish centre back spent a long time with Liverpool and won the League Cup in the process. However, he had been marginalised by manager Brendan Rodgers towards the end of his time at Anfield. This was largely seen as a reflection of the player’s poor form. However, the centre back has denied such allegations and says that the interest from Barcelona is an indicator that he was still playing at top of his game when he left Liverpool.

The 30-year-old still has the ability to play for a top team, but he has chosen to return to his hometown club Brondby IF. He says that the reports of poor form being responsible for his Liverpool exit are untrue. If such statements are to be believed, Rodgers will be regretting the decision to let either leave the club. Especially last season’s poor campaign highlighted the weak defending within the club even after the arrival of big-money players like Dejan Lovren. The former Southampton defender has cost the Merseyside outfit in excess of £ 20 million but he has been extremely disappointing.

"If I may be a little cocky, I would say that he is too good for the Danish league," saidsporting director Per Rudwhile discussing the performances of Agger since his return to Brondby. Coach Thomas Frank stated that the defender was in a league of its own. "He has the whole package and he's in a league of his own," said Frank. "I haven't been a worse player over here over the last 12 month,” said the player himself. Despite the good performances, Agger’s position in the national team is under doubt since he does not play for a top team.
