AGGER SHOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED

The Danish defender Daniel Agger has said that he should not played in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea during the weekend because it has only aggravated the groin problem that he suffered prior to this match. The 27-year-old Daniel Agger is regarded as one of the best players at Liverpool. He was rested in the Europa league encounter in midweek, which give him the opportunity to play against Chelsea. He was extremely crucial in helping Liverpool get a point from the fixture, but he has now said that in hindsight he should not have played in the match.

Daniel Agger was suffering from a groin injury and had to take painkilling injections in order to play through the pain barrier. He has now withdrawn from the friendly match for the Denmark national team against Turkey so that he does not aggravate the injury even further. Martin Skrtel did not play for Liverpool in the match, as he was suffering from a virus.

As a result, Daniel Agger was partnered with Jamie Carragher in the back. The two players were extremely good against the single striker in the form of Fernando Torres. He is now hoping that he will be fit for the match against Wigan during the weekend.

"I should not have played on Sunday but Skrtel became ill and there was not much I could do. I was thrown into it. I have a pulled groin. It was something that should have kept me out on Sunday but it did not. I played the game. It takes hopefully only a few days (to recover). The reason why I have cancelled for Wednesday is that it is a bit early to play three days," said Agger. Liverpool are currently in the 13th position with only 12 points from the 11 matches played so far.
