AGGER ACCUSES RODGERS OF BETRAYAL
Daniel Agger has stated that he felt betrayed by Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers from their time together at Merseyside giants Liverpool. Agger made this known on the Bag om Trojen podcast in his native Denmark. According to Daniel Agger, he asked Rodgers if he wanted him to stay at Liverpool amidst the interest from Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.
Ex-Liverpool centre back Agger disclosed that he had a discussion with Rodgers where the Northern Irishman was informed that his preference is to stay at Anfield if he wants him and that he would leave for Catalan club Barcelona if the manager doesn't want him at Liverpool.
Daniel Agger revealed that Rodgers answered him over two transfer windows of his intention to keep him at Liverpool. Agger went on to say that things changed quickly under Rodgers for him and he went from getting the captain's armband as the vice-captain to being number four on the list of captains. The rapid change in status didn't make sense to him as Rodgers failed to back his words with actions on the back of his appointment as the Liverpool manager in 2012. During the 2012/13 season, his first season under Rodgers, Daniel Agger was restricted to twenty (20) appearances in the league. In the end, Agger would have been better served moving to Barcelona target than the reduces playing time he had to endure under Rodgers.
Liverpool sanctioned the sale of Daniel Agger in the summer of 2014 as he returned to Brondby where the ex-Danish international would finish his career. He spent two more years at Brondby before calling it quit with his football career five years ago at the age of just 31. Agger was involved with several businesses until this summer when he was named the manager of HB Koge in the Danish second tier.
